Thursday, 1 June to DeGray Lake Resort State Park, Bismarck, Arkansas

Forgot to say White Rabbits earlier – White Rabbits!

We left at 8.30 am in drizzle, trundled along SH3 for an hour in rain and the rest, SH29 and the I30 in clearing weather.  Drove through a tiny town called Plain Dealing, do you think there is a casino here? Sure is, plus the obligatory church.  Photo didn't come out very clearly in the rain.  Passed a coloured couple sitting out on their stoop, in a run down ole house right beside the main road – jes watchin' the world go by I guess.

Crossed the state line into Arkansas, got the photo!  There seems to be an extraordinary quantity of poultry farms in this state so far and we've only been in an hour, maybe this is the chicken capital of the States!  Wait, surely that is Kentucky – couple of states away to the east. Just kidding, Kentucky is all about horses and you don't fry them!

Welcome to Arkansas

One of the many chicken sheds we passed
Arrived at DeGray Lake Resort State Park at 11.30 am, it's good to get on the road early!  There wasn’t a huge selection of available sites which could fit us as we hadn't booked, but no matter we did get one. Site 36 however it is not on the water as we hoped, so we will only stay here for two nights. It’s reasonably priced, $38.51 for the two nights.  We have our own fire pit and a grill so that will be where dinner is cooked tonight.  We’re surrounded by trees, hope we see some ‘lil critters later : )  We’ve cleaned up the rubbish around our site, some people are just slovenly, can’t be bothered to take their rubbish away with them.

Lovely shady campsite, no neighbours
