An early start, again, on the road before 9am. It rained hard during the night so had to get
the pools of water off the slides before we brought them in. Road was dry until we got down to the
southern coast of the UP, then a shower for 10 minutes or so. Only one issue, an 18 wheeler coming towards
us on the two lane road, for some reason drove onto our side of the road, his
cab and half the trailer was over our side and way past the rumble bars before
he pulled it together. It wasn’t dire,
we had an escape route but it made us sit up and take notice! That’s the first possibility of a ‘moment’
this trip.
The motels in back county amuse me, they look exactly like a
third rate movie, where the bad guy and the good girl hole up for the night. Will try and get some photos.
The other thing we notice is the number of falling down,
derelict houses and barns we come across, nobody seems to repair or rebuild,
they’re just left there as is.
Then we get our first glimpse of the northern shores of Lake
Michigan, another of the Great Lakes.

Get to Straits State Park just after 11am and choose site
120, one of the three available, for the night. 50 amp, no water, no WIFI, but
good cell coverage. No views of the
bridge either but we will take the bikes down to the shore when it gets dark so
we can see the pretty lights.

Kim chats to the chap just packing up from site 120, and his
new BFF gave him some TV cable adaptors, that was nice of him wasn’t it! They swapped their fave apps and discussed
tyre pressures and Michigan camps.
Making home-made (from a packet, or a tube to be more exact)
Cinnamon Rolls for a treat : )
