Saturday, 2 September – Phillipsburg, near Lebanon MO

We realise yesterday when talking to the various service shops that this is a long weekend, Labour day on Monday which kinda marks the end of summer!  So we are not sure if we should stay here another day where we know we have accommodation, or try our luck and move on.  After a couple of cups of tea and a board meeting we decide to stay here for another day - for one it guarantees we have some accommodation and secondly allows us time to sort out the next steps, in a nice environment, with a pub next door!

It’s a nice sunny day, only 17C  to start but will improve, in fact it got to 29C by noon.  On my way back from the office to pay for the extra day, I see a bloke up a ladder at the front of his motorhome.  In slow motion he takes a tumble off the top of the ladder and splats on the ground, heavily!  I run up to check he is OK, and thank goodness he seems to be and looks to have received no life threatening injuries.

We spend a couple of hours improving the hinges for the middle compartments on the driver’s side.  We pull off the narrow trim, then the wide trim, clean up the old RTV off both, add more screws into the hinge, breaking drills in the meantime.  Successful enterprise and it kept us occupied for a good couple of hours and impressed the neighbours. After a coffee and something to eat we lax back outside in the sun on our recliners with our books and while away a pleasant couple of hours baking in the sun.  We had to wait until it came around onto our site.

Late afternoon we get tidied up. Butch and his golf cart were hovering, so he waited and took us down to the Boat Town Brewery.  Not sure if it was our lunch - but the golf cart laboured up the hill! Butch diplomatically suggested it needed rechargeing!

Twisted Mike’s if the food truck tonight and his food theme is waffles.  I choose the Chicken Sandwich – crumbed fried chicken, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and dressing all served in a waffle folded in half and Kim chose the Club Waffle – ham, turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion and dressing also served in a half waffle – plus, a bag of crisps each!!  The food was surprisingly good!

American style food!!
