Wednesday, 5 July – to Lanexa, east of Richmond VA - Ed Allen’s CG and Cottages

The motto for this state - Virginia is for Lovers!  We’ve seen ‘LOVE’ signs everywhere, will try and get some pics.

Forgot to tell you about the sign at the Pool at the last place “Welcome to our OOL, you;ll note there is no P in it - please help keep it that way!”  Clever!

We didn’t rush to get up early again this am, but when we did and got cleaned up thought we would walk the nature trail and see if we could find any sign of the bear.  Nope!  But what sort of monstrous scary carnivorous arachnid made this web??

There was a matching one on the tree on the other side of the path - yikes!
We contemplated having brekkie at the restaurant (who did have last night off) but it was too hot for bacon and eggs and we really just wanted our usual cereal and raspberries/strawberries.  We were on the road by 11.30am, we only have about 50 miles to drive today.  So the first stop was Best Buys in nearby Colonial Heights where we swapped some Visa credit for a new Kindle for me and some Drone bits for Kim.  I left Kim to take it all back to the coach and play with his bits while I had a look in Dressbarn and Target, did well in both shops, one parcel from each and I was probably only away around half an hour – a power shop!

Then on to Ed Allen’s CG and Cottages, family owned and operated for 60 years, right on Chickahominy Lake, where we will stay for four nights.  Chosen for its geographical features – it’s on the water and it offers a lot – full 50 amp hook up, WIFI and also supposedly honours the Passport America discount, but reception said that is only for Monday and Tuesday.  I checked the website and it definitely says Monday thru Thursday so we will discuss that with them further.  There is also a pool here and a Lakeside Restaurant and Bar not too far away.  Don’t know exactly how far yet, but they hire golf carts for $50 a day, so might do that on Friday or Saturday, when the bar has live music.

Just as we got to our site, (74 and 75) it started to spit, just lightly, so we could still hook up the power and water etc. without getting too wet.  Temp staying the same though, around 29/30C.

Holy moly, a vivid flash of lightning followed immediately by a deafening crash of thunder right above our heads, scared the bejasus out of us!

Got my new kindle on charge so I can download my books and enjoy.  Had to pick a purple cover, they only had that or black and Kim’s is black.  On looking at the cover though, it is leather which is why is was $39.95, but the clip doesn’t work as well as my old one so I will take the leather one back to a Best Buys and get a proper one, or two, at Walmart for $12!  Yep, I'm cheap!
