Monday, 11 September – Strayhorn Landing, Tenkiller Ferry Lake, OK

It's 9/11 here in the US today!!  Can you believe it was 16 years ago??  Do you remember where you were when you heard that tragic news?  We were in Mooloolaba on the Gold Coast of OZ and woke to the shocking news on TV!

Pause - for one minute's silence!

So we are in the zone today, we break camp about 9.30am and then go shopping in Muskogee – Kim needs some boys stuff at Lowes.  We saw lots of Okies at Muskogee!!

On the way to a Park for tonight we drive past Camp Gruber - Oklahoma National Army Guard – a huge training complex.  We are sure it’s famous, must have read about it somewhere.

Then we arrive at Strayhorn Landing, an ACE campground on Tenkiller Ferry Lake, near Gore, OK.  We are on a peninsula so can see the lake from both our front and back views.  It is warm – 26C but the afternoon breeze helps keep it manageable.  Still might need to go for a swim though.

Swim Beach at Tenkiller Ferry Lake, very clear water
It’s a smallish camp, only 40 sites and most of them are being used today.  The campers are very friendly : )

It's parked next to us, I'm sure they want us to take it for a run!

Lovely site overlooking the Lake
Hurricane Irma seems to have dissipated luckily – although unfortunately there has already been loss of life and of course much property.  The photos of boats all piled up against each other is heartbreaking.
