Up early, it’s a travelling day today. We are on the road by 9am and it’s a pleasant,
sunny 19C.

Manistee River at Manistee MI |
Driving through Manistee just south of Orchard Beach, was
really pretty and we stayed on the coast for another 20 minutes or so until we
got to Scotville and from there turned inland and down HWY 37 until Grand
Rapids, one of the larger cities in Michigan.
We stopped here for more supplies.
Along the way we passed a couple of the old style motels I talked about the other day.

We continued on down HWY 131 as far
as Hopkins where we booked into the Hidden Ridge RV Resort. This place is rather fancy, but we can use
our Passport America card so get 50% off for two days. There are 330 sites, all motor homes or
trailers and they should be less than 10 years old – standards don’t you know! Large, level concrete pads, manicured grass, moulded
plastic picnic tables, full hook up, internet and cable TV plus there is a
Snack Bar/Shop where we can buy anything from icecream to pizza, or breakfast waffles
to burgers and salads. There is also a
lake and a pond (both fish and release) and we can hire a golf cart for $40 a
day. Probably won’t though, there’s not
too many places to drive it here. For
those so inclined there is a fitness centre too. Oh and the pool is heated! It’s 26C so much warmer inland away from Lake
Michigan.
