Nice quiet night, just the frogs
over in Lilypond Loop having their own concert and it was hot again. Woke to an overcast sky and still hot. Took the bikes for an explore. This is quite a large campground and it's nice and
flat, great for biking. We are surrounded
by water and there are two separate catch and release ponds. Lots of squirrels here and turtles in the
lake.
Half eaten squirrel lunch! |
Turtle then turned and looked at me but I didn't get the photo! |
Our site is on the corner of
Catfish Lane and Powerline Pole Road, fitting name I’d say.
Powerline Pole Road, yep right in the middle of the camp road |
In the afternoon, spent a couple
of hours at the pool, but when the sky darkened thought we should head back. Bought ice creams (caramel cornet for me and
fudge for Kim) at the shop and by the time these had been eaten the sun was out
again. We’ve had enough of the hot sun by
the pool anyway so head back to the coach.
Sat outside and chatted to the neighbours for a while. The evening culminated in an amazing sunset,
so took a bunch of photos, don’t know which ones to delete – I just love all the colours!
Kayaks catching the rays in the foreground |
Now for the Local News: A man was put to death last night for
shooting two people (a hospital security guard and a deputy) ten years ago, he
has been in prison since. There was media
debate about if he was too mentally ill/delusional to be subjected to lethal
injection?? There was a shooting not far
from here in Petersburg which is close to where we were camped last, but
everywhere we are able to get local TV news there is always a shooting in the
area - quite scary if you think about it
too much! Sadly another case, a four
year old found a gun and accidentally shot himself. Then there was a gun store robbery and the same afternoon one of the suspects went back to the shop to buy ammo and then stole
another hand gun! Duh!! The lax gun laws here cause much grief, I’m
glad we are more restricted at home. Plus
some more local airlines are in the gun
for overselling seats. And life
threatening heat waves in Nevada. The
new cheaper Tesla at US$35,000 rolls off the production line today, but even if
you order yours today you won’t get it until the end of 2018. 200,000 new jobs US wide during June, the 8th consecutive month of growth!
Beautiful sunsets. Scarey guns...
