Thursday, 5 October, TT Lake Tawakoni, Point, TX 75472

Yay - the brilliant blue sky and big yellow sunshine are back.  Travel day today!  Going across the other side (east) of Dallas to another Thousand Trails CG.  Both GPS’s don’t recognise the address but it is correct, I checked it online.  However the Allstays App on the IPAD does know about it so we should find it OK.  It’s about three hour drive.

Say 'bye to Dracula - leaving Bay Landing!!

Ghosties in the trees
As we pass Dallas to the north we see jet streams crisscrossing the skies, Dallas Fort Worth airport is the largest hub for American Airlines. Then we cross a special road - Naylor Road, we have a famous surname!  And we pass a field full of pumpkins for sale.  They have a special breed of pumpkin here which is absolutely round, perfect for Halloween carving.

Field full o'punkins
It was a pleasant drive, we decided against the faster  option of the I35 so we would avoid Dallas, been there before.  So TX380 did the job, some of this we drove four days ago to get to Bay Landing.  Along the way we saw a couple of examples of a new town being built in the middle of nowhere,  They do it well, they build the town around the new spec houses (all but one had the same brown tile roof), join some new entry roads from the Highway to the suburb and Bobs your Uncle.

Arrived 2.30pm, no Halloween decorations welcoming us today.  Checked out all the sites to find the best of the bunch and eventually were set up by 3.30pm.  All the sites here are 30 amp only, but we do have sewer so can launder to my heart’s content.  WTF – the two pools (family and adult) are closed for summer - but it’s 29C??  The roads around the park are patchy, literally and pretty rough.  The lakeside sites are all taken up by permanents as is usual in these places.  This end of Lake Tawakoni is not particularly enticing anyway, some of it is appears to be just stagnant low water.  Our site was asphalt at some stage but there is a thick layer of dust covering everything now.  There aren’t many people around our loop but most of the sites all have rigs in them.  There is a solitary kid riding her bike backwards and forwards.  So not really feeling the love today!

Off for a walk to explore  the Adult Lodge Pavillion, nobody there but the AC is on, there are a couple of pool tables, some books and jigsaws, a TV and lounge area.  The pool has water in it still but management has cancelled the contract to have the pool looked after so the chemical balance will be out of kilter - no swimming : (

This is the worst place for cobwebs,  Everywhere you walk they drape over you.  I tried to see what was jumping around in the lilly pads but didn’t go as far as the end of the pier, the spiders won.

So we have changed our stay here to just two nights, one full day tomorrow.  Then reduced the next TT booking to 3 nights and extended the final booking to 6 nights – we know this is a nice place and we will get a rental car for some for the time.  All of this I could do on line using our hotspot  : )  There is free WIFI at the two  pavilions but we can’t pick it up here.
