23 May, Tuesday – Rusk TX

Weather was a bit of a mixed bag this morning and a little on the cool side but the sun poked out from the clouds for a couple of hours so we enjoyed some time outside.

In the afternoon we went into Rusk to look for the nation's longest footbridge. We found it - built in 1861 and restored in 1960.  At 546 feet long and crossing a creek and low ground prone to flooding, it was the main path into the town for the residents from the east side..

Longest footbridge in the whole US of A!

Then we found a very well stocked hardware store (True Value) with a lot of RV accessories etc. so managed to spend some money again today!

We got back in to the coach just as the heavens opened and the thunder boomed!  It was past HH time so happily were safe inside our coach before the rain came.  Dinner at ours tonight - pork fillet with apple sauce, parmesan potatoes and coleslaw.  Lois made a huge bowl of tomato salsa which was delish!
